  1. Nature. I have an immense love for Earth and all its creatures and want to help others gain understanding about the natural world.

  1. Ever since I was young, I have been captivated by nature, whether it was the geysers of Yellowstone National Park or the songbirds in my backyard. As I grew older, instead of losing this childhood fascination, I broadened my horizons, studying as many different scientific topics as possible. I have come to find that what I enjoy most in everyday life is being in nature or with animals; hiking in the mountains, volunteering at our local animal shelter, teaching children at a local estuary reserve, photographing and painting my neighborhood’s varied wildlife (everything from bobcat and coyotes to chickadees and squirrels), or even simply searching for wildflowers.

  1. I only have one rule for my ideal job: I want to wake up every morning excited to go to work. In our society, this is something that doesn’t happen very often, and it seems that people spend more time griping about their jobs than actually living life. If I could do anything at all for the next 50+ years and get paid for it, there are a few things I would choose to do. I would to buy a spectacular camera and go traveling. I would study and photograph wildlife and habitats throughout the world, from the Amazon to the Moors, the Arctic to the Sahara. I would work in wildlife rehabilitation centers, helping to raise, care for, and eventually release injured wildlife. I would spend time in the mountains, near the ocean, on the ocean, studying and exploring nature. I would work for scientific groups studying biology and environmental sciences (hopefully, my two majors). I would get up early and stay up late, and enjoy every minute of it.
